The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Emporia, VA, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders in the sustainable food movement by providing comprehensive training and support. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship empowers participants to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through an immersive six-month program at the Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows engage in hands-on experiences across diverse areas, including organic food system education, community food initiatives, and the integration of food and ecological literacy into education. In partnership with local non-profits, participants work on projects that enhance local access to healthy foods, such as maintaining community gardens, supporting farmer's markets, and developing innovative distribution channels. With no tuition fees, we ensure that aspiring advocates can join us in our mission without financial barriers. Applications are accepted until March each year, with activities typically running from May to October, creating pathways for meaningful change in our food systems.
