The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Christiansburg, VA, is dedicated to empowering individuals to lead the way toward a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique program provides tuition-free, hands-on training, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring advocates and educators. Over six months, selected Fellows immerse themselves in experiential learning at the Allegheny Farm, where they gain valuable skills in organic agriculture, food system education, and community engagement. Following their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to implement impactful initiatives such as growing and distributing diverse crops, running educational health programs, maintaining community gardens, and promoting food literacy in local schools. This Fellowship not only cultivates knowledge but also fosters meaningful connections, encouraging a healthier and more equitable food landscape throughout Highland County and beyond.
