At the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Ashland, VA, we are dedicated to nurturing leaders who advocate for a food system that champions social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program empowers Fellows through comprehensive training and community engagement at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, ensuring that tuition remains free to foster accessibility. Throughout this fellowship, participants gain hands-on experience with organic food system education, grow and distribute diverse crops, and implement innovative health education sessions. Fellows also play a vital role in cultivating school and community gardens, enhancing food literacy, supporting farmers markets, and developing vital pathways to improve access to healthy foods. After an immersive six-month residential learning experience, Fellows transition into a Community Action Year, where they collaborate with local non-profit organizations to apply their skills and make a meaningful impact. Applications are accepted until March for the fellowship running from May to October, inviting individuals passionate about creating a healthier, more equitable food landscape.
