Based in Huntsville, UT, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to cultivating a fair and sustainable food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This transformative program empowers individuals by providing organic food system education without any tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all participants. Fellows engage in hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm Campus in Highland County, VA, where they learn to grow and distribute a variety of crops on a market-style farm, facilitate innovative health care educational sessions, and manage community gardens. The program also emphasizes food and ecological literacy in schools and supports local farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives. Through collaborative partnerships with regional non-profit organizations, selected fellows spend six months immersed in experiential learning, followed by a Community Action Year, where they apply their expertise to enhance food access and advance community food coalition efforts. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
