The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Midland, TX, empowers passionate individuals to become advocates for a just and sustainable food system through hands-on education and community engagement. This unique fellowship offers a comprehensive organic food system education without any tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring Fellows. Participants engage in diverse activities, such as growing and distributing crops on market-style farms, leading innovative health education sessions, and developing school or community gardens. In addition, they enhance food and ecological literacy in educational settings, support local farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, and work to build distribution channels that improve access to healthy foods. Selected Fellows embark on a transformative six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their training in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until March each year, with experiences generally taking place from May to October, creating a robust pipeline of food system advocates ready to effect positive change.
