Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Allegheny Mountain Institute (AMI)
Smithville, TN US
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Smithville, TN, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, our Fellowship provides a unique opportunity for selected individuals to immerse themselves in organic food system education through a six-month experiential program at the Allegheny Farm. Our Fellows engage directly with partners to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health care education, maintain community gardens, and enhance food literacy in schools. We believe in making this transformative experience accessible by not charging tuition, allowing participants to focus on supporting farmers markets and developing distribution channels for healthy food access. Following their training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, applying their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits. Interested candidates should complete their applications by March each year, with the program running from May to October, fostering both personal development and community empowerment.
