The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Ripley, TN, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Through a comprehensive training program, selected Fellows engage in hands-on, experiential learning at the Allegheny Farm, gaining invaluable knowledge in organic food systems while ensuring the program remains accessible by waiving tuition fees. Participants collaborate with local partners to grow a diverse array of crops, run educational initiatives focused on innovative healthcare practices, maintain school and community gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy in educational settings. Additionally, they support farmers markets and develop sustainable distribution channels for healthy foods, while getting involved with community food coalitions. Each Fellow will spend six months immersed in study at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year, where their skills are applied in partnership with regional non-profits. Applications are open until March each year, with the fellowship experience typically running from May to October, empowering individuals to make a lasting impact in their communities.
