The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Nashville, TN, empowers individuals to become advocates and educators for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program offers an invaluable opportunity for selected Fellows to engage in organic food system education without any tuition costs, ensuring accessibility for all. Over a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus in Highland County, VA, Fellows will gain hands-on training and practical skills in diverse areas, including crop cultivation for market distribution, innovative health care education, and community garden maintenance. After this foundational phase, participants transition to a Community Action Year, where they apply their training through collaboration with local non-profits to increase access to healthy foods, support farmers markets, and promote ecological literacy in schools.
