Based in Lewisburg, TN, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship at Allegheny Mountain Institute is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. This transformative program offers aspiring Fellows comprehensive training and hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm in Virginia, emphasizing organic food system education and practical applications that improve community health and access to food. Throughout their six-month residency, participants engage in diverse activities, such as growing and distributing crops, maintaining community gardens, and implementing educational initiatives that enhance food and ecological literacy. Following this immersive experience, Fellows will participate in a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world settings. We strive to promote accessibility by offering this Fellowship at no tuition cost, encouraging participation and impact in the realm of emergency food access and sustainable agriculture. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May through October.
