The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in La Follette, TN, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates for a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Hosted by the Allegheny Mountain Institute at the Allegheny Farm Campus in Highland County, VA, this program offers an immersive six-month residential experience without tuition fees, ensuring that all aspiring Fellows have access to vital training in organic food systems. Participants engage in hands-on learning, including growing diverse crops, facilitating educational sessions on health and wellness, and maintaining community gardens. They also gain experience in promoting food and ecological literacy in schools, supporting farmers markets, and developing avenues for better access to healthy foods. Following their fellowship, each participant embarks on a Community Action Year, where they apply their knowledge through partnerships with regional non-profit organizations.
