The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Jonesborough, TN, is dedicated to cultivating advocates and educators for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program offers selected Fellows a tuition-free, immersive six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus in Highland County, VA. Through hands-on organic food system education, Fellows engage in a variety of impactful activities, including growing and distributing diversified crops, maintaining community gardens, and implementing innovative health initiatives. Our commitment to accessibility ensures that participants can freely explore food and ecological literacy while fostering relationships with local communities and organizations. Following their fellowship, participants enter a Community Action Year to apply their skills alongside regional non-profits, supporting initiatives such as farmers markets, food coalitions, and mentorship programs. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October, allowing passionate individuals to embrace a transformative journey in sustainable food practices.
