Allegheny Mountain Institute (AMI)
Harriman, TN US
At the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Harriman, TN, we are dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system through comprehensive education and community engagement. Our program empowers selected Fellows with hands-on training and resources to advocate for environmental, social, and economic justice within food systems. During their transformative six-month residency at our Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows engage in a variety of impactful activities including growing and distributing diverse crops, maintaining community gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational settings. Our commitment to accessibility is evident as we do not charge tuition for our Farm and Food Study program. Following their fellowship, participants enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profit organizations to implement health initiatives, boost farmers markets, and expand access to nutritious food. Applications are open until March each year, with experiences running from May to October, inviting those passionate about food assistance and sustainable practices to join our mission.
