The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Fayetteville, TN, embraces a mission to cultivate a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. This program empowers selected Fellows through hands-on education in organic farming and sustainable practices at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, all at no cost to participants. During their six-month immersive experience, Fellows gain practical skills while working on diverse crop production, fostering school and community gardens, and engaging in health-oriented educational initiatives. They also learn to enhance food and ecological literacy, support farmers markets, and create channels for greater access to nutritious foods. Following this enriching fellowship, participants embark on a Community Action Year, partnering with local non-profits to apply their knowledge and drive change. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
