Located in Columbia, TN, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, is dedicated to empowering individuals as advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. This transformative program provides aspiring leaders with organic food system education, ensuring tuition-free access for all participants. Fellows engage in hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where they learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health education sessions, and maintain community gardens. By integrating food and ecological literacy into local education, supporting farmers markets, and developing channels for increased access to healthy foods, our Fellows make a lasting impact. After completing a six-month residential experience, they embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills in partnership with regional non-profits. Applications are accepted until March each year with the program running from May to October.
