Located in Macungie, PA, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders in sustainable food practices. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship empowers participants through comprehensive education in organic food systems and hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus in Highland County, VA. Our mission is to promote a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just, without charging tuition to ensure accessibility for all aspiring advocates. Fellows engage in diverse initiatives, such as growing and distributing local crops, facilitating health-centered educational sessions, and integrating food literacy into community and school activities. Over a six-month residential study, followed by a Community Action Year, selected fellows collaborate with regional non-profits to enhance food access and support community-driven agricultural efforts. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience spanning from May to October.
