The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Chambersburg, PA, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that is fair, sustainable, and economically viable. Our program, hosted at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, offers a no-cost educational experience to ensure accessibility for all aspiring Fellows. Participants engage in hands-on learning about organic food systems, have the opportunity to grow and distribute diverse crops on market-style farms, conduct innovative health care educational sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and enhance food and ecological literacy in local schools. Additionally, Fellows support farmers markets, direct-to-consumer programs, and community food coalitions while developing sustainable distribution channels to improve access to healthy food. Over six months of immersive training followed by a Community Action Year, participants collaborate with regional non-profit organizations, making a lasting impact in their communities. Applications are open until March each year, with experiences taking place from May to October.
