The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Butler, PA, is dedicated to cultivating leaders who are passionate about creating a food system that is equitable, sustainable, and beneficial for both people and the planet. This immersive fellowship offers selected individuals the opportunity to engage in hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where they learn about organic farming practices, food literacy, and community engagement without the barrier of tuition fees. Fellows will gain practical experience in diverse areas, including growing and distributing crops, supporting farmers' markets, and implementing educational initiatives that promote health and ecological awareness. After a six-month residency, they will enter a Community Action Year, where they will work alongside regional non-profits to bring their vision of a just food system to life, positively impacting local communities. Applications are welcomed each year until March, with the program typically running from May through October.
