The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Bellefonte, PA, empowers aspiring leaders to become advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program provides comprehensive organic food system education without tuition fees, promoting accessibility and inclusivity. Fellows immerse themselves in a six-month, hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, where they learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement health-focused educational initiatives, and nurture community gardens. Participants play a vital role in integrating food and ecological literacy into educational settings, supporting farmers markets, and enhancing access to healthy food through innovative distribution channels. Following their immersive training, Fellows engage in a Community Action Year, applying their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits to tackle pressing food challenges. Applications are open until March each year, with the fellowship experience taking place from May to October.
