At the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Vinita, OK, we are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social equity, environmental sustainability, and economic viability. Our immersive, tuition-free program empowers selected Fellows with hands-on experience in organic farming and food systems education at the scenic Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. Throughout the six-month fellowship, participants engage in diverse activities such as growing and distributing crops on market-style farms, leading educational sessions on innovative health care, and maintaining community gardens. Our Fellows also facilitate school activities focused on food and ecological literacy, support local farmers markets, and develop strategies to enhance access to nutritious foods. With a strong commitment to community engagement, our program culminates in a Community Action Year where Fellows partner with regional non-profit organizations to implement their training and foster grassroots food initiatives. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May through October.
