Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Newcastle, OK, is dedicated to empowering individuals to advocate for a just and sustainable food system through comprehensive training and hands-on experience. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program provides Fellows with an immersive six-month residency at Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where they engage in organic food system education and practical applications. Without the burden of tuition fees, the Fellowship promotes inclusivity, enabling participants to grow diversified crops, support farmers' markets, and lead community garden initiatives. Throughout their Community Action Year, Fellows collaborate with local non-profits, integrating food and ecological literacy into educational settings and enhancing access to healthy foods. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October, making a tangible impact on food assistance efforts and community wellness across the region.
