Participants engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm Campus, and through collaboration with local partners, they actively contribute to initiatives such as growing diverse crops on market-style farms, implementing health-focused educational sessions, and enhancing food literacy in schools. Fellows also play vital roles in supporting farmers markets, community gardens, and direct-to-consumer programs, enhancing access to healthy foods in the region. Following six months of immersive training, selected participants enter a Community Action Year, applying their skills in partnership with regional non-profit organizations to make a tangible impact on their communities. Applications for this transformative experience are accepted until March each year, with programming typically running from May to October.
