Laurie Spenik

Laurie Spenik is a dedicated clinical social worker and therapist with credentials as an MSW and LISW-S. She provides compassionate guidance to individuals grappling with anxiety, depression, substance use issues, and everyday life challenges. With a deep understanding of the struggles faced by many due to social isolation, particularly arising from the COVID pandemic, Laurie has supported numerous clients dealing with addiction, depression, and anxiety linked to past trauma, including experiences of sexual abuse, violence, and the difficulties of daily life. She believes in the inherent worth of every individual and encourages those in need to reach out for support, reminding them that they deserve to live their best life. Laurie's expertise in EMDR therapy has been transformative for her clients, enabling them to heal and thrive. As an educator at the University of Akron's School of Social Work for over five years, she has gained valuable insights into the unique challenges faced by young people today. Laurie understands the experiences of men and women struggling with mental health and addiction issues and strives to eliminate barriers to treatment by adjusting her schedule for her clients and their families. Having raised three boys herself, she is acutely aware of life's challenges and is particularly attuned to the experiences of healthcare workers who often encounter trauma in their line of work. She is truly committed to being there for those in need.
