Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors is a dedicated parenting skills and advocacy program designed specifically for Latino parents with children aged 0 to 5 in Old Bridge, NJ, and surrounding areas. Through a series of 10 engaging workshops, this evidence-based program empowers parents to become their children's first teachers, equipping them with essential tools for advocating on behalf of their child's development and educational journey. Workshop topics cover critical areas such as nutrition, positive discipline, child development, school readiness, and the effective use of technology, ensuring that parents are well-prepared for the responsibilities of nurturing their children. Offering both virtual and in-person options, Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors is committed to making a positive impact on the long-term academic success of Latino families. Parents who complete the program can even take on leadership roles by becoming facilitators for future cohorts. Our services are provided at no cost to eligible participants in Middlesex County and Franklin Township in Somerset County, helping to build a supportive community for families during these formative years.
