Located in Mays Landing, NJ, General Assistance (WorkFirst NJ) is dedicated to supporting individuals facing urgent financial challenges with essential emergency assistance. Our program offers a lifeline through access to vital resources such as food, clothing, shelter, and household furnishings. We understand that navigating tough circumstances can be overwhelming, which is why we provide assistance with temporary rental support, back rent or mortgage payments, utility bills, and transportation for housing searches. While emergency financial assistance is typically available for up to 12 months, we can also grant extensions in cases of hardship. Additionally, individuals who have been employed for at least 20 weeks and face job loss through no fault of their own may qualify for state unemployment benefits, with welfare support available after those benefits expire.
