The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Wilson, NC, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to be advocates for a just food system—socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable. Through hands-on experiences at the Allegheny Farm, Fellows engage in organic food system education without any tuition barriers, ensuring accessibility. This dynamic program allows participants to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement health-focused educational initiatives, maintain community gardens, and enhance food literacy in schools. Additionally, Fellows support farmers markets and collaborate with local coalitions to expand access to healthy foods, all while gaining valuable mentorship. Over the course of six months, selected individuals undertake an immersive, experiential study followed by a Community Action Year, where they partner with regional non-profits to apply their knowledge and skills. Applications are accepted until March, with the program running from May to October each year.
