The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Whiteville, NC, empowers individuals to become advocates for a just food system that strives for social, environmental, and economic equity. Through a six-month hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm, our Fellows receive comprehensive organic food system education, without tuition barriers, ensuring accessibility for all. They engage in vital community initiatives such as growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing innovative health education programs, maintaining gardens in schools and communities, and integrating food literacy into school curricula. Our Fellows also support farmers markets and develop distribution channels that enhance access to nutritious foods, while actively participating in community food coalitions. After their immersive training, each Fellow embarks on a Community Action Year, applying their skills alongside local non-profits to make a lasting impact. Applications are accepted until March, with fellowship experiences typically occurring from May to October.
