The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Taylorsville, NC, is dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system by training and empowering individuals to become influential teachers and advocates. Through hands-on experiences at Allegheny Farm, this fellowship eliminates barriers to entry by offering tuition-free access to comprehensive organic food system education. Fellows engage actively in growing and distributing diversified crops, implementing innovative health education sessions, and maintaining community and school gardens. They learn to integrate food and ecological literacy into various educational settings, support farmers markets, and enhance access to nutritious food through collaborative community actions. Over a six-month immersive program, followed by a year of applying their skills with partner non-profits, Fellows emerge as leaders committed to advancing food equity and sustainability in their communities. Applications are open until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
