The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Rutherfordton, NC, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through a six-month immersive experience at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows gain hands-on training in organic food systems, empowering them to become effective educators in their communities. This fellowship emphasizes accessibility by charging no tuition, allowing a wider range of participants to engage in vital initiatives such as growing diversified crops, leading educational sessions on health care innovation, and maintaining community gardens. Fellows will also play a crucial role in enhancing food and ecological literacy, supporting local farmers' markets, and creating effective distribution channels for healthier food access. After their training, participants embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their knowledge and drive meaningful change in the community. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship typically running from May to October.
