The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Rockingham, NC, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this immersive program empowers Fellows through hands-on training in organic food systems education, without any tuition fees to ensure accessibility. Throughout a transformative six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants engage in diverse initiatives such as growing and distributing crops on a market-style farm, conducting educational sessions in innovative health care, maintaining community gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into local schools. After the fellowship, Fellows commit to a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to enhance food access and support farmers markets and community coalitions. Applications are accepted until March, with the fellowship running from May to October.
