Dr. Heymen holds a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), particularly for individuals grappling with trauma. Additionally, she incorporates Internal Family Systems therapy into her practice. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Heymen enriches her well-being through Creative Dance, a unique fitness program that integrates dance, martial, and healing arts. This approach centers on self-expression and health through movement. Certified as a Black Belt Nia instructor, she founded The Joy of Movement Studio in Pittsboro, NC in 2011, highlighting her dedication to not just mental health, but holistic wellness.
