The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Oxford, NC, empowers individuals to become advocates for a just food system through hands-on training and education at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. This impactful fellowship, which is free of tuition to ensure accessibility, offers participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in organic food system education and community engagement. Fellows work alongside local partners to cultivate diverse crops, lead innovative health care educational sessions, sustain community and school gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into educational initiatives. They also play a crucial role in enhancing access to healthy foods by supporting farmers markets, developing distribution channels, and engaging in community food coalition activities. After six months of intensive learning at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus, each Fellow embarks on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their training in practical settings.
