Located in Newport, NC, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship at Allegheny Mountain Institute is dedicated to empowering individuals through practical education in sustainable food systems that prioritize social, environmental, and economic justice. We provide a transformative six-month experiential training program at our Allegheny Farm Campus, where selected Fellows engage deeply with organic food system education and hands-on activities. During this fellowship, participants learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health care educational sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and mentor future Fellows. Following this immersive experience, they enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their knowledge, enhance food accessibility, and support local farmers markets. Our program is designed to be accessible, with no tuition fees, ensuring that passionate individuals can advocate for and contribute to a healthier food system in their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year for a fellowship running from May to October.
