The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Lumberton, NC, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of food system advocates and educators through comprehensive training that emphasizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Participants receive hands-on, organic food system education, empowering them to work collaboratively with community partners to grow and distribute diversified crops, implement innovative health care educational sessions, and maintain school or community gardens. Additionally, Fellows learn to integrate food and ecological literacy into educational curricula, support farmers markets, and develop distribution channels enhancing access to healthy food within the community. Over a six-month experiential program at Allegheny Farm, followed by a Community Action Year, selected Fellows will actively engage with regional non-profits and foster sustainable food initiatives. Applications are welcome until March of each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
