The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Lenoir, NC, is dedicated to empowering individuals to become effective advocates for a food system that is socially equitable, environmentally sustainable, and economically viable. Through hands-on training and support, this fellowship fosters the next generation of leaders in organic food systems by offering extensive educational programs without tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. Fellows engage in a comprehensive six-month residency at our farm campus, where they learn to cultivate and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative workshops for health improvement, maintain community gardens, and enhance food literacy within schools. Following their training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with local nonprofits to apply their skills in real-world settings, thereby strengthening our local communities. With opportunities to support farmers markets, increase access to healthy foods, and mentor incoming cohorts, this fellowship is a vital contributor to building resilient food systems in the region.
