The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Laurinburg, NC, cultivates a new generation of leaders dedicated to transforming our food systems into ones that are socially, environmentally, and economically just. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative fellowship empowers participants with comprehensive training and hands-on experience without tuition barriers, ensuring accessibility for all. Over six months, selected Fellows engage in organic food system education at the beautiful Allegheny Farm, where they actively contribute to growing diversified crops, implementing innovative health care education, and supporting local schools and community gardens. Additionally, they help integrate food and ecological literacy into various educational activities while promoting healthy food access through farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives. Following their immersion, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their skills and foster sustainable food practices. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience typically running from May to October.
