At the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Boone, NC, we are dedicated to cultivating a new generation of leaders who advocate for a food system that champions social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program offers an immersive six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm, providing Fellows with hands-on education in organic farming and food systems. Through their training, Fellows engage in vital initiatives such as growing and distributing a variety of crops, conducting educational sessions on innovative health care, and enhancing food literacy in schools and communities. We also emphasize collaborative work with local partners, including the development of farmers markets and community gardens, to ensure increased access to healthy food for all. With no tuition fees, our Fellowship promotes inclusivity and accessibility for aspiring advocates. The journey culminates in a Community Action Year, where selected Fellows apply their knowledge and skills in meaningful partnerships with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are welcome until March each year, with experiences running from May to October.
