The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Asheboro, NC, is dedicated to cultivating leaders who champion a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This transformative program provides selected Fellows with no-tuition organic food system education and hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. Over the course of six months, participants engage in immersive training that empowers them to grow and distribute diverse crops, facilitate health education sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and teach vital food and ecological literacy. Additionally, Fellows contribute to local initiatives, including farmers' markets and community food coalitions, while developing sustainable distribution channels to enhance access to healthy food. Following their residency, they embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to enact meaningful change. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience typically occurring from May to October.
