The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Waynesville, MO, is dedicated to training and empowering a new generation of advocates and educators committed to building a fair and sustainable food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship focuses on organic food system education, providing a tuition-free opportunity that enhances accessibility. Fellows engage in immersive experiences at the Allegheny Farm, where they learn to grow diversified crops, implement innovative health education sessions, maintain thriving community gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy in local schools. Participants also contribute to farmers markets, establish direct-to-consumer channels, and work alongside regional non-profits to foster healthier communities. This six-month experiential program, followed by a Community Action Year, equips Fellows with the skills and knowledge to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Applications are due by March each year, with the fellowship experience taking place from May to October.
