The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Republic, MO, is dedicated to empowering the next generation of food advocates through hands-on training and education focused on creating a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Without charging tuition, this program promotes accessibility for all participants, allowing selected Fellows to engage deeply in organic food system education at AMI’s Allegheny Farm. Throughout their six-month residency, Fellows will gain valuable experience in growing and distributing diversified crops on a market-style farm, implementing educational initiatives that promote health and well-being, and fostering community gardens. They will also learn to integrate food and ecological literacy into school curricula, support farmers' markets, and work with local organizations to enhance access to nutritious food. Following their immersive training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, where they apply their skills in partnership with regional nonprofits, continuing their commitment to building a thriving community food system. Applications for this transformative program are accepted until March each year, with the Fellowship experience typically running from May to October.
