Valerie Hughes

Valerie Hughes, a Licensed Professional Counselor (MA, LPC, NCC), brings a compassionate and affirming approach to her work with individuals, couples, and groups. She understands that many people struggle to express their needs in relationships and often feel disconnected or inauthentic in their roles. Valerie creates a therapeutic environment that fosters confidence and empowers clients to explore their desires and develop strategies for change. As a relational therapist, she focuses on a collaborative and affirming connection with each client, recognizing and valuing their unique intersecting identities. With expertise in addressing trauma and PTSD, as well as relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and sexuality, Valerie is dedicated to helping individuals cultivate relationships that promote security and joy. She is particularly welcoming to those from LGBTQIA+, CNM/Polyam, kink, and fetish communities, taking an affirming stance towards individuals involved in sex work. Valerie's training from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and her experience with trauma-informed practices allow her to provide sensitive and supportive care, fostering growth for clients who may have experienced challenging pasts.
