Kathy Brandt-kessler

Kathy Brandt-Kessler, LCSW, RN, BSN, is a compassionate Clinical Social Worker and Therapist who believes in the potential for creating a full, vibrant, and gratifying future, regardless of the life's hurdles. With a rich background as an oncology nurse and HIV/AIDS researcher, along with experience as a hospice social worker, Kathy is well-equipped to support individuals facing challenging health issues, chronic pain, grief, and loss. Her unique experience as a past nurse at a medically-supervised weight loss program provides her with the tools to help combat emotional eating, binge eating disorder, and behaviors that can undermine health and weight loss goals. Kathy also specializes in supporting families under stress and couples navigating intimacy, infidelity, infertility, and communication challenges. As a mother of a special needs child, she brings personal insight into the complexities of family life, helping children manage peer pressure, bullying, anxiety, attention difficulties, and school-related challenges. Furthermore, Kathy assists healthcare providers and emergency responders dealing with work-related stress, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma. Emphasizing the belief that clients are the experts in their lives, Kathy strives to create a safe, client-centered environment where she collaborates with individuals to establish meaningful goals. She employs techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in a strengths-based approach to foster positive change.
