The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Jefferson City, MO, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates and educators committed to a fair and sustainable food system. This transformative program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, provides selected Fellows with the opportunity to engage in hands-on organic food system training at the Allegheny Farm Campus in Highland County, VA, without any tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. During their six-month fellowship, participants will gain valuable skills in growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing educational initiatives that promote health, maintaining community gardens, and fostering food literacy in schools. Additionally, they will support local farmers' markets and direct-to-consumer food programs while contributing to a stronger community food coalition. Following their immersive training, Fellows will embark on a Community Action Year, applying their knowledge and skills alongside regional non-profits to further enhance community access to healthy foods. Applications are due by March each year, with the fellowship experience taking place from May to October.
