The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in De Soto, MO, is dedicated to fostering a more equitable and sustainable food system by sponsoring and empowering Fellows to become knowledgeable advocates and educators. This unique fellowship offers an immersive six-month experience at the Allegheny Farm, where participants gain hands-on training in organic farming practices and develop essential skills to promote food justice. Fellows are encouraged to engage with local communities by growing and distributing diverse crops, creating school and community gardens, and leading educational initiatives that enhance food and ecological literacy. Additionally, they play an integral role in supporting farmers markets and improving access to healthy foods through innovative distribution channels. By participating in this program, selected individuals also contribute to community food coalition activities and mentor future generations of advocates. Applications for this transformative opportunity are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
