The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship located in Bonne Terre, MO, is dedicated to cultivating a just and sustainable food system by training and empowering passionate individuals. This fellowship fosters skilled advocates and educators committed to promoting social, environmental, and economic justice in agriculture. By offering comprehensive organic food system education, we ensure that our program remains accessible with no tuition fees. Fellows engage in hands-on experiences, learning to grow diverse crops on a market-style farm, create educational initiatives in innovative healthcare, maintain community and school gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into educational settings. Through active involvement with farmers markets and direct consumer programs, they also work to enhance access to nutritious foods and support local food coalitions. Selected participants immerse themselves in a six-month experiential learning journey at our campus, followed by a Community Action Year, which allows them to implement their training in collaboration with regional non-profits. Applications are accepted until March, with the fellowship running from May to October.
