Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Swartz Creek, MI, nurtures the next generation of advocates for a just food system through comprehensive training that emphasizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This fellowship, hosted by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, offers a unique opportunity for selected Fellows to engage in immersive, hands-on education at the Allegheny Farm, followed by impactful community partnerships that extend their learning into real-world applications. By participating in this program, Fellows gain essential skills in organic food system education, cultivation and distribution of diverse crops, community gardening, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational settings. They also support farmers' markets and develop efficient channels for increasing access to healthy foods within their communities. With no tuition fees, accessibility is paramount, making it possible for passionate individuals to embark on a journey of empowerment and leadership in food assistance and sustainable practices. Applications are accepted yearly, with experiences generally taking place from May to October, fostering not only individual growth but also building stronger, healthier communities.
