The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Midland, MI, is dedicated to fostering a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system through education and activism. This innovative program offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to engage in a comprehensive six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where they receive hands-on training without the burden of tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. Throughout their fellowship, participants gain invaluable knowledge in organic food systems while working on a market-style farm, facilitating educational initiatives in health care, managing community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy in schools. Fellows also support local farmers markets, develop distribution channels for healthy food access, and engage in community food coalition activities. After their intensive training, each Fellow embarks on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to implement their insights and drive meaningful change in the food landscape. Applications are welcomed until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
