Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Kalamazoo, MI, is dedicated to nurturing passionate individuals who aspire to be advocates for a just food system. This impactful program provides comprehensive training and hands-on experience focused on social, environmental, and economic sustainability, empowering Fellows to become effective teachers and community leaders. Throughout the six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm, participants engage in organic food system education, develop community partnerships, and facilitate innovative health education. The Fellowship emphasizes practical applications, allowing Fellows to manage market-style farms, maintain school and community gardens, support farmers markets, and lead food literacy initiatives. By eliminating tuition, the Fellowship ensures accessibility for all aspiring leaders. After their immersive training, Fellows engage in a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to implement valuable food assistance programs that increase access to healthy foods throughout the region. Applications are accepted until March each year for the program starting in May, offering a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the food systems of Kalamazoo and beyond.
