The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Battle Creek, MI, empowers emerging leaders to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This immersive program, sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, provides a comprehensive, tuition-free opportunity for selected Fellows to engage in organic food system education. Throughout a six-month residential experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, participants gain hands-on skills in growing and distributing diverse crops, conducting community education sessions, and supporting local food initiatives like farmers markets and community gardens. After their fellowship, participants embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to implement sustainable practices and enhance food access in their communities. Applications are encouraged by March each year, with the fellowship experience occurring from May to October.
