The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Wells, ME, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders in sustainable food practices. Our program provides comprehensive training designed to empower Fellows as educators and advocates for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. With a focus on organic food system education, participants engage in hands-on experiences that allow them to grow and distribute diverse crops on a market-style farm, implement innovative health care educational sessions, maintain school and community gardens, and influence food literacy within school activities. Additionally, Fellows support farmers markets, establish direct-to-consumer channels for healthier food access, and collaborate with community food coalitions. Over the course of six months at our Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a transformative Community Action Year, selected Fellows apply their skills in partnership with regional nonprofit organizations. We strive to make this Fellowship accessible and impactful, with no tuition fees to enhance opportunities for all. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the Fellowship experience running from May to October.
