The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Waterville, ME, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates and educators committed to creating a fair, sustainable, and thriving food system. By sponsoring and training dedicated Fellows, we focus on organic food system education that empowers participants to make a tangible impact in their communities. Our program enables Fellows to engage with diverse partners, helping to grow and distribute crops on a market-style farm, lead educational initiatives in health care, establish and maintain community gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy in local schools. Additionally, we support the development of farmers markets and direct-to-consumer programs, enhancing access to healthy foods and fostering community collaboration. Each selected Fellow embarks on a six-month immersive experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, culminating in a Community Action Year where they apply their training alongside regional non-profit organizations. We aim to promote accessibility by offering this tuition-free program to all who aspire to drive meaningful changes in food systems.
